Bernie Rink, the curmudgeonly godfather of the northern Michigan wine industry, always wanted a brandy made from his vineyard’s grapes. When he died in 2018, his son approached the Northern Latitudes Distillery in Lake Leelanau, Michigan, to fulfill his wish. I designed the brandy’s label using a photo of Bernie in his signature flannel shirt, suspenders, and judgmental gaze.
